Hello Thomas,

I am glad to hear that 3.1.0.6 has resolved a lot of your problems.
Thank you for the positive feedback!

I just tried recreating your other problem, but could not recreate
it. I created a file whose name has the hex values as you specified:

x'3341C4E231BA4A302E303044' and was able to back it up successfully.
The file name looks like this:

3AÄâ1ºJ0.00D

I do not know if this will get translated correctly across the
internet, but the characters in the file name are as follows:

 1) Digit '3'
 2) 'A' with an accent
 3) 'A' with an umlaut
 4) 'a' with a carat
 5) Digit '1'
 6) A little circle used to denote temperature in degrees
    with a line underneath it
 7) 'J'
 8) '0'
 9) '.'
10) '0'
11) '0'
12) 'D'

ADSM was able to back this up fine for me:

dsmc> i z:\test\ -su=y

I tested this with the English version of the client as well. And
had no problem with it.

Try creating a new test node and see how the backup goes. If it still
fails, what error messages appear in dsmerror.log?

Best regards,

Andy

"The only dumb question is the one that goes unasked."

The new 3.1.0.6 client solved all my language related problems!=20
GREAT JOB - THANKS!

But one problem still exists:
I have files with hexadecimal encoded filenames (in 8.3 notation the
filename
looks like 33 41 C4 E2 31 BA 4A 30 Dot 30 30 44 =3D 3A-=D41=A6J0.00D).
If I want to backup such a file with ADSM 3.1.0.6 I get messages

ANS1228E Sending of object
'\\viw_sv101_010\e$\Illwerke\PE\ADM\KVM\SHaus\Kassen\saison98so\+9V=AF=CF=
=A6J0

ANS4005E Error processing
'\\viw_sv101_010\e$\Illwerke\PE\ADM\KVM\SHaus\Kassen\saison98so\+9V=EE=D8=
=DDJ0
.00D': file not found

This files are created on a DOS PC and copied to a NTFS drive on our NT
4.0 server.
Should I backup this files with the ADSM DOS client or can't this files
be saved with ADSM?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
