Oscar - This is a recurring topic on the List.  Start out by reviewing the
        Tuning Guide referred to on the ADSM home page, and also all the
performance threads from past discussions (see ADSM-L archives).
    Basically, the two consumptive areas are the client rummaging around in
the file system to determine what to back up and then actually send it out,
and the server rummaging around in its database and storage pools to record
and store the data.  It's mostly a matter of giving each fast CPU and disk
to accomplish it, plus optimizing the several server tuning knobs that there
