All,

I just purchased the following setup:

IBM 3575 Library w/ 1 3570 "C" drive.
ADSM for Solaris 3.1.2 (Solaris 2.6, fully patched - Enterprise 250)
Adaptec 2944UW / OF Differential SCSI adapter

However, I have run into a small problem. I have everything installed,
including the latest IBM driver for the 3575 Library for Solaris 2.6. When I
run the tapeutil program, I can communicate with both the Library and the
tape drive. However, when I attempt to add the drive under ADSM, I get an
immediate Panic message in my system console telling me I have an adapter
freeze. Now, normally I would think this was a communication or termination
problem on the SCSI bus, but as I mentioned, I can communicate all day long
with the Library using the tapeutil program; it only has problems under
ADSM.

BTW, the 3575 Library and Drive are the only devices on that SCSI bus.

I am new to ADSM, so maybe I am doing something wrong. I have followed the
Quick Start instruction to the letter though, and all is well until I try to
add the Automated Tape as /dev/rmt/2smc, which is the symbolic link to the
tape device. I can add the automated Library just fine though
(/dev/rmt/3smc).

Any thoughts?
