You got to setup in your dsmserv.opt file

     httpport 1550

This will setup a port number for the web client. From a web browser
     enter the following:

     http://adsm:1550

You can configure any port number, I just gave an erronous port for
     the example.

I have configured ADSM v 3.1.1.0 on an RS6000 H50 running AIX 4.2.1.
At this point in time, I have not purchased the network.lic, so my
RS6000 is the only client I am backing up also. I am trying to set up
the essentials, and train personel on using ADSM, before we buy
additional licensing this next year for network support, and additional
RS6000 clients, NT clients, and Novell clients.

I can connect to the adsm server via the dsmadm GUI or via the dsmadmc
character interface to perform server administration, ie., configure
domains, policys, mgt classes etc. I can also connect as a client using
the dsmc (CUI). I have been trying to connect as a client using the web
client, and I get the following error:

LogMsg: The file access permissions do not allow the specified action.
ANS4216E Not authorized to run ADSM. See your system administrator.

>>>>>> Process Interrupted!! Severing connection. <<<<<<

when I try to connect using the dsm GUI I get the following errors that
popup in ADSM caution boxes:

ANS4507E --Trusted Communication Agent has terminated unexpectedly.
ANS3156E cannot query server mount information
Cannot query Policy set information from the server.

In the window that I started the dsm client, I get the following
messages:

root#aix1%/ #>dsm &
[1] 26626
root#aix1%/ #>TCA: This program is not for general use. It is used only
by the ADSTAR Distributed Storage Manager product.
TCA: This program is not for general use. It is used only
by the ADSTAR Distributed Storage Manager product.

Can someone give me some insight as to why this either of these client
interfaces won't work?

Do I need to purchase the network license?

here is my dsm.opt:
Nodename aix1_vn
Servername ADSM

here is my dsm.sys
*//ADSM_LOCAL_SERVER_STANZA
Servername ADSM
COMMmethod SHAREDMEM
SHMPORT 1510
Passwordaccess generate
Users root
SCHEDLOGRETENTION 5
inclexcl /usr/lpp/adsm/bin/inclexcl

Thanks for your help.
