Greetings all,

I am currently using ver 2.1.0.18 on a AIX system, I'm looking to upgrade
to Ver 3, but wish to install it on an HP 9000. I found the version 3
try/buy information on the IBM web site and sent in a request for
information.  I got a response that directed me to a web location to
download the try/buy for HP.  I did this and installed it with out a
problem.  Now I'm trying to configure it to work with my DLT tape drive
that I will be using during the setup - migration phases of the upgrade.
Everything was fine until I tried to do a DEF DEVCLASS using the TYPE=DLT
and FORMAT=DLT35C  I get an UNKNOWN TYPE DLT error.
I looked in my printed ver 3 manual and my syntax was correct.  But when I
check the on-line manual (HELP DEF DEVCLASS) only FILE, DISK, and
GENERICTAPE are listed.  Calling IBM support has been a complete waste of
time, seems like no one supports the try/buy, most people I talked to
didn't even know it existed, and HP support is very slim. I even had a hard
time getting pricing information when I called IBM Direct.

My Questions are these.  Has anyone had success in configuring the try/buy
version of ADSM to work with DLT tape drives. And can someone using the HP
version 3 tell me if you have been getting good support from IBM.  I'm
going to have to evaluate the decision to stay with ADSM or move on to some
other product that has better support.
