We use Platinum's Autosys to schedule all our jobs (on AIX), so we have a
job that stops Essbase, then triggers the backup (actually, we do an
archive), then triggers a job that starts Essbase.  If you come up with a
way to do a hot backup, I'd be interested in hearing about it.
