In the new advanced ADSM courses offered by both SSSI and IBM, the issue of
performance is covered in detail. There is a white paper on the IBM web
site:
http://www.storage.ibm.com/software/adsm/adwhperf.htm
This is old, but I am looking to get the newer one. I'll post the location
if and when I get it.
The bottom line as already mentioned is determining if you really have a
problem, or if what you are seeing is normal. The most obvious way to
determine if something is really our of whack is to use ftp to move a bunch
of files, some number where the overall transfer time is a couple of
minutes. Then move the same file using ADSM selective and compare the
times. If the are close to equal, that's the best you can do. If they are
not equal, you might have a problem.
