Title: Cannot Load Domino 4.5x Server as a Service in Windows NT
Product Release: Domino Server 4.5x Windows NT
Topic: Server \\ Platform \\ NT
Document #: 146083 Last Update: 07 10 9719970710

Problem:
A Domino 4.5x server is unable to load as a Windows NT (NT) service.
Running NTSVINST.EXE -C from the operating system prompt, which is supposed
to add the Domino server as a service to NT, does not work.
Solution:
In order to work around this issue, do the following:

1. Check if the NTSVINST.EXE file exists anywhere on the hard drive. If the
NTSVINST.EXE file exists, copy it to the Notes program directory and type
the following:

NTSVINST -C

Otherwise, if the NTSVINST.EXE file does not exist, proceed to step #2.

2. Reinstall Domino 4.5x selecting the "Customize features- Manual install"
option.

3. Click the Next button after clicking the "Customize features - Manual
install" radio button.

4. On the Notes tab of the Customize screen, be sure to select (check) the
Notes Service Install feature.

Note: Selecting this feature will add the Domino 4.5x server as an NT
service.

5. Continue with the installation as usual.

6. When the install completes, reboot Windows NT.

Domino 4.5x should now start after NT has loaded.
