Shane,

The "bad" batch of tapes that your CE is referring to is from the time
frame of July, August, September of 1997. You can identify them by the date
code on the "metal" side of the tape in the right hand corner when holding
it in your hand horizontally.

The last several digits are the date and year.

I haven't seen the problems that you described to be consistant with this
LOT of tapes. You could be experiencing some other problems also.

Nonetheless, if you are concerned, you would call 1-888-IBM-MEDIA and tell
them that your tapes are not performing as desired and request replacements.

Be persistant, if your getting errors, hound HW support until you get a
resolution. You should have no errors in a "usual world". Remember, HW
support has Level 2 and Level 3 people for the CEs to get help from just
like the SW people do.
