IBM just talked about this last week at the International Storage
Symposium. They ARE planning to take advantage of SANs. The first step is
to have the ADSM client and server do their control passing across the LAN,
and back up to the ADSM server across the SAN is the same way it is doing
now. The next step would still be to pass the control information across
the LAN, but then have the client back up directly to the storage device
across the SAN.

I have no idea of the time frame we are looking at, however.

Has anyone heard what IBM is doing in regard to Storage Area Networks,
and integration with ADSM / leading RDBMs?

Thanks,
