I'm probably missing something that's obvious to everyone else, but I'm
stumped. I have an archive that I run with an 2.1.0.6 client (AIX 4.2) with
a 2.1.5.15 server (AIX 4.1.5). The archive command is:
        dsmc archive /essbasedata/* -archmc=30days -su=y
This command archives the files in 3 file systems (/essbasedata/lvessbase01,
/essbasedata/lvessbase02, and /essbasedata/lvessbase03).

This same application and file systems exist on another RS6000 (AIX 4.2)
with a 3.1.20.3 client and a 3.1.1.2 server (AIX 4.2).  When I issue the
exact same archive command, I get this message:
        ANS1081E Invalid search file specification
'/essbasedata/lvessbase01' entered

I can't find anything in the v3 manuals to make me think the file
specification for the archive command has changed. If I change the filespec
to /essbasedata/, I get this:

        Directory-->                 512 /essbasedata [Sent]
        ANS1092E No files matching search criteria were found
        ANS1803E Archive processing of '/essbasedata/' finished with
failures.

        Total number of objects inspected: 1
        Total number of objects archived: 1

If I change the filespec to /essbasedata, I get:
        ANS1898I ***** Processed       500 files *****
        Directory-->                 512 /essbasedata [Sent]
        Archive processing of '/essbasedata' finished without failure.

        Total number of objects inspected: 507
        Total number of objects archived: 1

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong or what's changed from version 2 to
version 3?

Thanks.
