No, CDE is required for the Solaris, HPUX, and AIX GUI clients.
On the Solaris once CDE is install, on my system it appears to occupy 50 Meg,
the OpenWindows desktop can still be used. And if /usr/dt/lib is in the
LD_LIBRARY_PATH the ADSM Solaris GUI clients work in OpenWindows.
Hope this helps...

Subject: Version 3 GUI & CDE
We have a client who objects to having the CDE installed to run the
GUI interface. It is a solaris 2.5 client, and the only other way is
to run the command line interface. Will the version 3 GUI work
with anything else?
Thanks in advance for any help.
