We are currently running ADSM Server Version 3.1.1.3 on
an RS6000 7013-570 that has 320MB of memory and 44GB of
SSA disk (7133-600). Our OS is AIX 4.2.1.0. We are
using an OVERLAND tape library robotics setup consisting
   of LXG2016, LXB2210 and LXC2016 components. This
provides us with robotics, 42 slots and 2 DLT2000XT tape
drives. This server is currently backing up 5 Sun Solaris
clients which have a combined data size of around 80GB.
Our ADSM database is allocated at 1GB and its current
utilization stays around 60%. There wasn't a whole lot
of thought put into sizing a processor for this setup
because we just used the equipment that we had on hand.
Nevertheless this setup seems to work very well.

We are looking at using this machine to backup 10 to 15
additional Netware clients which have a combined data
   size of around 100GB.

Additionally, we are considering implementing ADSM
Servers at 2 other company locations which will have a
client load quite similar to the above mention
   configuration.

   My questions are...

How does one size an RS6000 to be used as an ADSM server?
Are there any formulas or rules of thumb that say if you
have "x" number of clients with "y" amount of data you
will need "z" model RS6000 server?

Any thoughts or comments would be most welcomed.

   John
