We have some troubles using our new Compaq Tape Library (DLT 3570) with
ADSM
3.1.1.3 for NT. ADSM finds the devices alright using Server Utilities
Diagnostics but it will not label any tapes. When using the dsmlabel
command
we get the error message:
I/O Error writing label for volume AAN500 in drive mt4.0.0.2
AAN500 is the correct barcode label for the volume and you can see that it
is loaded in the drive it even looks like it is written to. This also makes
sense if you look at the log file that you can get from dsmlabel. Relevant
parts look like this:
<-2>ltsscsi.c(1931): Issuing library IOCTL; func=0x8401C058.
<-2>dts.c(198): Writing label; drive=MT4.0.0.2, vol=AAN500, side=A.
<-2>tapeio.c(163): Waiting for drive MT4.0.0.2 to become ready.
<-2>psdevio.c(122): Opening device MT4.0.0.2 ; mode=0, ndelay=0.
<-2>psdevio.c(158): Opening NT device //./mt4.0.0.2 ;
<-2>tapeio.c(616): REW failed; rc=C00000A3, cc=412,
sense=7000020000000016000000003A000000000086002D0000026F00000000
<-2>psthread.c(222): Thread -2 sleeping for 5 seconds.

We have used the same library with two other NT backup products. They
label,
backup and restore without any problems so the hardware should be ok.

Is there who has used this library? Any suggestions?

Thanks
