We are still at the planning stage of a first ADSM installation and
are considering what provision needs to be made for out of action
tape libraries. If a tape library has broken robotics, for example,
which may take some time to fix, can a stand-alone drive be used for
performing restores. Can you tell ADSM that a particular tape is now
in a different 'library' ? If you have a 2nd ADSM server with its own
tape library - is there any way to persuade this server to accept a
tape from the broken library ?
Has anyone had any experience with this sort of problem ?
Or does everyone just ensure that they have a very good maintenance
contract ?
