Double check that the volume is checked into the library...
If not, ensure that it is physically in the library, check it in, then
     retry your move data.

If the tape is total trash and nothing can be taken from it you will
need to update the volume to access=destroyed before you do the delete
volume with the discarddata=yes. That is a nice safety feature.

     later,
           Dwight

Subject: Read only volume

Hi all,

One of the tape volume in my STK 9710 library has its access set to
readonly. I tried to run the audit on the volume but it gave the following
error in the activity log:

05/26/1998 02:37:25 ANR1199I Removable volume 000186 is required for audit
                      process.
05/26/1998 02:37:25 ANR8324I DLT volume 000186 is expected to be mounted
                      (R/O).
05/26/1998 02:37:25 ANR2313I Audit Volume (Inspect Only) process started
for
                      volume 000186 (process ID 160).
05/26/1998 02:37:50 ANR1401W Mount request denied for volume 000186 -
mount
                      failed.
05/26/1998 02:37:50 ANR2321W Audit volume process terminated for volume
000186
                      - storage media inaccessible.

Since it is giving storage media inaccessible data, how can I move the data
off this volume to the other volumes in the
storage pool this corrupted volume belongs to. I issued the MOVE DATA
command but was unsuccessful. Any work around to
this problem or do I need to recreate this volume using the volumes in the
COPYPOOL. I am running ADSM v 3.1.1.2 on an
AIX 4.1.5. server.

Please let me know if you have any suggestion.

Regards,
Naveed.
