     There's some past discussion in the list archives, but dsmlabel does
     one at a time.  If you want concurrency/parallel labeling, you must
     issue multiple dsmlabel commands.  Obviously, that isn't the easiest
     thing to do.  Also, be aware the dsmlabel and the adsm server don't
     exactly talk, so I would limit my labeling to one drive AFTER I
     'undefined' the drive to adsm.

     Are your tapes pre-labeled? or should I say pre-initted?  If so, you
     don't need to dsmlabel them.

     Our 3494 has 3490e & 3590 drives in it, and is shared between MVS &
     AIX.  The adsm server is on AIX.

In my experience, I needed to include the drive,element number and I would
use the -barcode qualifier too.  Since the -barcode isn't there, are you
having to enter the volume label manually?  If so, this is probably the
problem.
