     make sure all the devices that make up BACKUPDIR are still  
     ACCESS=READWRITE
     a hardware error might have set it to readonly and your query will  
     show you the space exists but ya can't write to it.

I don't know about the percent logical occupancy vs. utilization, but  
you may want to add a "next storage pool" for when it does fill up so  
your backups don't fail.
