Copy db1.dsm to another server

We are in the process of moving our ADSM NT server from an IBM 704 to a
Compaq 6000. We had planned to copy the db1.dsm via ethernet to the new
server. The copy for a 500MB file took over an hour and never finished. Can
we copy db1.dsm and log1.dsm files? Seems like they should just be regular
files right???
