HI everyone,
I've gotten a strange error message, that I'm hoping one of you can
help
me with. It happens when I try to have ADSM automatically label the
brand-new tapes in my Exabyte EXB-210 library (with two 8505XL drives).
I'm working from the command-line client on Windows NT4.0, with a
console-mode client open also so I can monitor the messages. My server is
ADSM v3.1.0.3, running on AIX 4.x on an RS/6000 43P.
The command I enter is:
LABEL LIBVOLUME exb210 SEARCH=yes LABELSOURCE=prompt CHECKIN=scratch
OVERWRITE=yes
The result messages I get, after answering the prompt for the first label,
are:
ANR8304E Time out error on drive 8MM_DRV1 (/dev/mt0) in library EXB210.
ANR8300E I/O error on library EXB210 (OP=00006C03, CC=207, KEY=05, ASC=3B,
ASCQ=90,
SENSE=70.00.05.00.00.00.00.0A.00.00.00.00.3B.90.
00.00.00.00.00.00.00.00.00.00.00.00.00.00.00.,
Description=Device is not in a state capable of performing request). Refer
to
Appendix B in the 'Messages' manual for recommended action.
ANR8802E LABEL LIBVOLUME process 5 for library failed.
ANR0985I Process 5 for LABEL LIBVOLUME running in the BACKGROUND completed
with completion state FAILURE at 22:01:52
Appendix 'B' in the Messages manual doesn't have that specific ASCQ listed,
and isn't very helpful in it's recommended actions.
Has anyone seen something like this before? Where should I start looking
for the cause?
Thanks in advance!
Tony
