All-

First of all, apologies if you are not a SQL Server user, please ignore
this post. Unfortunately, this list is the only means I have of reaching my
target audience.

I'm interested in gathering admin's experiences using ADSM with the SQL
Server Connect Agent and scheduled dumps.

Admittedly, I'm a base newbie at ADSM. Our shop currently is in testing
mode on the product. Our environment is ADSM Release 2.1 on OS/390, SQL
Server Connect Agent 1.1, NT3.51/4.0 and SQL Server 6.5/SP3. We've been
able to dump and restore interactively. Also, we've been successful
scheduling dumps thru SQL Task Scheduler executing a batch job that calls
the Connect Agent command-line program.

Things we'd like to know:
1) Do you give SQL Server Admins/DBAs Administrative authority in ADSM?

2) Do you schedule SQL Server Dumps centrally, thru ADSM, or thru SQL
Server tools?
a) If scheduled centrally, how can the actual schedule be disseminated or
published to interested parties? Via the Web?

3) What errors, problems or quirks have you encountered? What were the
workarounds?

4) Do you prefer ADSM to other backup software (like BackupExec from
Seagate Software, ArcServe, etc.)? In addition to? Please supply pros &
cons.

TIA,
