anybody out there backing up informix dbs with adsm from an alpha running 
digital-unix (the o/s formerly known as osf/1) ???  

really?! have u had opportunity 2 restore yet? successfully? r u sure?

getting ready 2 do so here, & wanna get some early insite.

yes, i have the redbook -- read it, too.
yes, i read the whitepaper on the www.storage server.
yes, i wanna back'm up hot & catch the in-flites 2.
yes, have been doing other flavor dbs (oracle, sybase) from other platforms 4 
several yrs & prefer sqlbacktrack-2-adsm (but no alpha ports yet)
no, i dont really wanna do a roll-your-own api-code approach (again), but 
realize that i may need 2 consider it (again).

do you ...
= use onbar?
= use adsmpipe? (*shiver!*)
= use a connect-agent?
= use an alien technology?
= run informix to files (instead of raw partitions), then do filesystem backups 
with informix instance down?
= use sql query scripts to pull data out to files that you can hit with "dsmc 
selective"?
= use another scriptographic approach?
= use another 3rd-party middleware-flavor product?

if u answered yes 2 any/all of the above, i'd like/need 2 here from u.
 
i'm lookin 4 strategies, tactics, hazards, tips, timesavers, stumbling blocks 
lay that ahead, ..., any other info u can provide without the letters "y-2-k"
