Richard,

I think you need an equal sign (=) as indicated below:

upd dev sql_annual prefix=drcadsm.sql

However, at least with an MVS server, the prefix is limited to a maximum of 8
characters, so the
prefix you have above may not work. We had to be creative with the prefixes to
keep the onsite
tapes separate from offsite within our CA-1 TMS.

Good luck!

ADSMer's,

Is it possible to have a multi-qualifier as a Dev Class Prefix.
For example our database backups which get sent offsite, we put a prefix
or DRCADSM. We now have SQL data we need sent offsite, for a different
retention, and would like to use DRCADSM.SQL. I have been unsuccessful
in updating the dev class, here is the command I use and the error I
get:

upd dev sql_annual prefix drcadsm.sql

ANR2020E Update DevClass: Invalid Parameter - DRCADSM.SQL
ANS8001I Return Code 3

        Any help would be appreciated.
