Mark,

I feel that those who responded to your initial message, acted in the
best interest of this list.  I'll grant you that some of the things said
about you and to you were not necessarily the best way to respond, but
your message was quite unexpected.  The mistake was not "obvious" as you
stated.   Also, an apology sounds more sincere if you do not attack the
people to whom you apologizing.  Statements like "get a grip and get on
with your lives" make it sound like the people who are offended have a
problem.
