Re: Novell Crash / DSMC.NLM

There have been multiple instances of NetWare crashes while ADSM is running.
The problem could potentially lie in the NetWare operating system or in ADSM. I
recommend that you verify that you've got the latest ADSM maintenance
installed, and that you check with Novell to verify that your NetWare
maintenance is up to date. Beyond that, it is hard to say what could be causing
the problem. We'd have to know what version of NetWare you are running (i.e.
3.11, 3.12, 4.10, 4.11, etc.), what version, release and maintenance level of
ADSM client you are running, the exact messages that are issued at the time of
the crash, the abend log file, and what ADSM was doing when it crashed. What
are the date and version of: CLIB.NLM, MATHLIB.NLM, STREAMS.NLM, TSAxxx.NLM, and
 SMDR.NLM? In addition, some history would be very helpful: does this happen on
all systems, or only one system? Did you just install ADSM and the crashes
occurred immediately, or have you been using ADSM for a while on this system,
and all of a sudden this problem cropped up?  If the latter, did *anything*
change on the NetWare system? What ADSM operations are you performing when the
crashes occur? Does the crash occur immediately upon starting the operation, or
does it go for a while, then crash? If the latter, does it always crash in the
same spot, or is it unpredictable? Is there any other information that might be
pertinent that isn't covered by the above questions?

My Novell administrators would like to know if anyone or if IBM has any
knowledge of any problems with the following happening on Netware/Novell
clients:

DSMC.NLM - Netware file server crash -- DSMC.NLM is indicated as the problem.

These crashes are intermittent -- Anyone else experiencing anything like this
out there?
