PTF IP21284 (which I mentioned in an earlier post today) should fix APAR
IC19018, which documents a problem where the ADSMConnect Agent is not sending a
large enough size estimate.

There is another APAR, PQ12677, which covers another ANR0534W problem involving
the COMPRESSALWAYS option. My guess is that you are seeing the failure after a
file grows during compression. Setting COMPRESSALWAYS NO in DSM.OPT and/or
turning off disk storage pool caching should help circumvent the problem until
a permanent solution is made available. Here is the text for PQ12677:

ENVIRONMENT: ADSM V3 client with COMPRESSALWAYS set to YES (or
using the default, which is YES). Data is going to a V2 or V3
server disk storage pool with disk caching enabled.

PROBLEM: When client compression causes a file to grow, message
ANR0534W may be seen on the ADSM server and backup for that
   file will fail.
When the client sends the initial file size estimate to
the server, the server will attempt to obtain enough space to
house the file. This includes freeing up cached files if
necessary. However, if compression causes the file to grow
such that it exceeds the original size estimate, the server
will not free up any more cached files to obtain additional
space. Thus the message ANR0534W may result.

LOCAL FIX:
Set COMPRESSALWAYS NO on the client,

   OR

Turn off caching in the disk storage pool, then use the MOVE
DATA command on each disk storage pool volume to free up
existing cached files.

We have discovered that ANR0534W is a problem with Win NT V3 clients,
and not just Lotus Notes users. We see this problem with Win NT V3 and
we are not using Lotus notes, also don't see this with non-V3 clients.

Its very annoying. Has IBM said anything about a fix?
We don't see any new NT clients for V3 on the FTP site.

Help! ... thanks ... joe.f.
