Dirk, we do this with several servers.

A couple of gotchas:

Provide access to the various /dev/r<volume> used by dsmserv to the uid under
which it will run. Which ones are easy to find out. just start the server
interactively, and find out which volumes it does not manage to vary online.

you need to give access to the licence file, /usr/lpp/adsmserv/bin/dsmreg.lic.

Besides that, it is just a question of changing ownership of the config files,
and updating rc.adsmserv to issue a su command while starting the server.
