Hi friends,

This is a REAL TIME problem. I have to restore an extremely importnat file.
The details of how ADSM is setup in my shop is as follows:

ADSM V2R1..Server on OS/2 Platform.
ADSM clients....OS/2 WARP 3 Servers
Versions maintained 03
Backup policy calls for a set of tape volumes removed every week
alongwith a copy of the full databse backup and a floppy containing
dsmserv.opt, devcnfg.out and volhist.out.
Auto-reclamation turned off

The required file is not in any of the current three versions reported by
the current ADSM database. It is probably in the last set removed.

The procedure which I have in mind goes as follows :-

1. Migrate all data from disk stgpool to the tape pool.
2. Make another full database backup reflecting most current backup status.
3. Copy the three files on a floppy.
4. Restore the database from the full db backup tape of the last set.
5. Query the dbase for the required file.
6. Checkin the required tape volume as called for by the restore.
7. Hopefully recover the file.
8. Checkout the tape vol or vols.
9. Restore databse back to its most recent status .
10. Hopefully this should bring me back to the way things were.

Please point out any deficiencies in my logic, if any, and offer your
expert comments on the matter.

Please I need help now !

Thanks for everything,

Tahir M
