You can use the utility in the utility directory lbtest to find this
information. The syntax in NT for lbtest is lbtest -dev lb4.0.0.1 where the lb
stuff is the scsi address and channel. I think the UNIX syntax is lbtest -dev
\lb4\ something or other. HELP.

At any rate, once lbtest is running, select Manual test, then option 6, open.
If the open does not return a successful status, you aren't talking to the
robot. Stop and retry. YOu might not have entered the lb4 stuff correctly.
If successful, then select 8, return element count, then select 9, return all
element count. This will scroll by fast but you will find the element numbers
for the drives.

You can also look in the manual for the 3570 to get the element numbers.

Think of a robot as a black box with a bunch of elements. An element is a
place to put a tape cartridge, the drives, the import/export port, etc. SCSI
commands are used to move tapes around. The command is something like "Move
the contents of element 1 to element 16". This might move a tape to a drive.
ADSM needs to know the element addresses to format these commands correctly.
