Joe,

I can't comment on the AIX implementation of ADSM but I've done several
LOADDB's for the OS/2 and NT versions and I can assure you that what you're
seeing is not unusual. LOADDBs will typically take several/many times
longer that the corresponding DUMPDB. IBM has said the LOADDB can take
days or weeks in some cases.

I asked IBM about that once and was told that the DUMPDB only dumps
information necessary to rebuild the DB (which is actually a small part of
the total database). LOADDB loads that same data but also uses it to
construct the remainder of the database and that is what takes so much
longer.

Moving from our old ADSM server to a new IBM 7026-H10 running AIX 4.2.1.
The dump of the database took about 2 hours (about 4GB). We started
loading the database into the new server at 2pm ET yesterday. I come in
this morning at 7:30am ET and it's STILL running!
Is this just a fact of life, or is something terribly wrong here. The
machine is so busy that I can't even login to check on things.
