Get a copy of Call Gerry Coleman at BMC Software (408-616-3175). Get a copy of Backtrack. Works real well with Sybase. It's priced at $5,000 per server. You can get a 60 day eval, try it, then buy it. Support line personnel were extremely helpful to a low end AIX administrator. ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: AIX client with SYBASE databases Author: ADSM-L@vm.marist.edu_at_internet at X400post Date: 12/7/97 2:59 AM Greetings, first some history, I'm a mvs sysprog who is also the ADSM/MVS person. Our AIX body just quit and joy-joy I was "voluntered" to assume all the AIX responsibilities. My unix experience is limited to keeping my ISP shell account going. That's the history. Well, all of this has finally convinced management that it's time to start backing up the AIX boxes to ADSM. What really concerns me are the SYBASE databases. Does anyone have any experience doing this? Suggestions, problems, and/or insights.
