Hi Richard,

There are two ways to size the database.  The easiest is to ball park it by
estimating the size at 1% to 5% of the total data to be stored.  However,
the capacity required for the database is affected more by the number of
files being backed up than by the amount of data.  You can calculate
approximately 500k per file plus an additional 200k for each version or
copy in another storage pool.

In addition to managing the location of and information about all managed
files the database contains information about the server configuration and
operations.

Chapter 4 in the ADSM Administrator's Guide will give you more information
about sizing the database and tracking it's usage.
