Hello,

We are having trouble with our only V3 client for AIX 4.1

When a scheduled backup is started the client produces
the following output in dsmsched.log:

Executing scheduled command now.
11/18/1997 12:46:02 Node Name: OCTOPUS4_C
11/18/1997 12:46:02 Session established with server N215_S: AIX-RS/6000
11/18/1997 12:46:02 Server Version 2, Release 1, Level 0.13
11/18/1997 12:46:02 Server date/time: 11/18/1997 12:46:03 Last access:
11/18/
1997 12:46:02

And then there is a 60 minute silence after which the server terminates
the session as can be seen with 'query actlog':

11/17/1997 22:00:38 ANR2561I Schedule prompter contacting OCTOPUS4_C (session
5723) to start a scheduled operation.
11/17/1997 22:00:38 ANR0400I Session 5724 started for node OCTOPUS4_C (AIX).
11/17/1997 22:00:38 ANR0403I Session 5724 ended for node OCTOPUS4_C (AIX).
11/17/1997 22:00:39 ANR0400I Session 5725 started for node OCTOPUS4_C (AIX).
11/17/1997 23:01:02 ANR0482W Session 5725 for node OCTOPUS4_C (AIX) terminated
                      - idle for more than 60 minutes.

The problem doesn't occur when I start a backup manually using
'dsmc i'.

This machine is in a cluster of 8 machines. The other 7 machines run
a V2 client and they don't have this problem. Only the machine that
runs the V3 client refuses to do a schedule backup.

I'm going to report this problem through the official IBM channels,
but I also wanted to share this information with all the people
on this list to see anybody else has seen this before.

Regards,

Alexander
