Hi Dave,

Although we are not running two servers yet, I
can
think of a few reasons why you would like to have

more than one ADSM backup server.
On the database side of things, the ADSM database

can grow quickly and eventually become a hassle
to
manage - Making backups of the DB, and the
running
of the expiration process that becomes time
consuming.
In some shops expiring old files becomes almost a
24 hour
process.

Also you can run out of resources - if you're
running on
MVS you will know that ADSM is not a light user
of
your CPU. In most shops ADSM becomes the number 1
CPU user.

From a network point of view one server becomes
the
entry point for all your backup data and the
network interface
to your system becomes the bottleneck.

I'm sure there could be other reasons as well,
but from
my experience with ADSM I can see the above as
the
most obvious reasons why you would want more than

one backup server.
