delete archive question

Hello, everyone.
I noticed that with the query archive command you can specify a fromdate
and a todate. I would really like to specify a todate in a delete archive
command. I have tried a todate command, but it seems to be ignored.
Does anyone have some helpful advice?
I have considered writing a perl program to use dsmc and pick to do this
deletion.
Is there a way that I could tag those files for expiration? They were
orginally set to expire after 365 days (The default). I want to change them
to expire in 6 months and then expire them now. I suppose I could also
move the date on the computer and then do an expire, but I would prefer not
to.
