Hi ADSM-folks!
Our environment:
ADSM Server f. MVS, Ver. 2.01.12, running on OS/390 Rel. 2
(SW)
Token Ring 16 mb/sec
(HW)
ADSM Client f. OS/2, Ver. 2.01.07, OS/2 Warp Server, TCP/IP
(SW)
HP Vectra XU 6/200, 64 MB RAM, 2 GB SCSI-HD, Madge Blue+ Token Ring Adapter
(HW)
ADSM Client f. Novell, Ver. 2.01.07, Netware 3.11 + 4.x, TCP/IP
(SW)
HP NetServer, 64 MB RAM (min.), RAID-5, Madge Blue+ Token Ring Adapter
(HW)
Tuning TCP (not IP, only OSI layer 4) on our Novell servers we fasten the
backup from 100 KB/sec up to 300KB/sec and more.
Setting the parameter MAXFRAMESIZE to 2048 is the main reason for the higher
speed.
We only reach 100KB/sec when we backup the OS/2 server. We try everything
written in the "ADSM Performance Tuning Guide",
but we never reach the speed of our Novell backups. For us 100KB/sec seems to
be the highest OS/2-backup-speed, but it is
much to slow. Our network guy checked out, that the TCP-FRAMESIZE during a
OS2-backup is only 512 byte.
Is there any way to tune TCP under OS/2 (like we did under Novell) ???
How fast is Your OS/2-backup ???
