Hi ADSM-folks!

Our environment:
ADSM Server f. MVS, Ver. 2.01.12, running on OS/390 Rel. 2
ADSM Client f. Novell, Ver. 2.01.07.

The harddisks of the novell servers are devided in three volumes: SYS, APPS (MS
Office, ...) and DATA
(filespace for the users).

On one server in SYS are 3,500 files stored, in APPS 40,000 and in DATA
130,000. When we run an
incremental backup,
scanning the files in APPS takes 4 seconds for 500 files (message ANS4102I).
The backup slow down, when
ADSM scan the files
in DATA: 30 seconds for 500 files!!! The result is a 130 minute wait for backup
nothing.

There is another novell server with only 90,000 files in DATA. ADSM needs only
25 minutes for scanning and
backup these files.

Is ADSM only a tool for incremental backups of novell servers with less then
100,000 files ????
