backup/restore performance

I have adsmserv 2.1.6.13 installed on AIX 4.1.5.
I have a filesystem with about 750 000 files, during a backup , we backup
about 5 gigs. The backup uses about
5-6 hours to complete.

When I try restore of a file that is inactive the database search takes 30
mins.

Whats wrong?
