On my NT system the console monitor session I use is terminated very
brutally (but effectively) by the kill command.  There has been no evidence
of a build up of "phantom" sessions.
I run the consolemode session daily to monitor the database backup to
completion then, upon receipt of the "completed" message, I "kill
dsmadmc.exe" (I don't expect anyone else to be running on my server
machine!) and continue with the backup volhist and devconfig to floppy
disk.
