We also run the ADSM servers on AIX.

Here is my understanding of the server licensing:

To add different types of clients you have to buy the server component
for the appropriate "environment".
There is a server component for UNIX environments, and one for PC
environments, one for DFS support, one for HSM clients.

If you already have UNIX clients, you already have the server
environment for UNIX, so you can add HP or Sun or SGI with no additional
cost. In fact, the client code you just download from the IBM FTP
server, it is not individually licensed.

So your only additional cost should be 1 client license if you are
adding an HP UNIX client.

If you are adding desktop (i.e., Windows) clients, you need the
additional server component.
