The issue of long file names comes into play when you do a Bare Metal
Restore using the Red Book procedure. The long names can be restored,
but several steps need to be taken to do this properly when using a
DOS starter system to get the restore process going.

I have tested a simpler restore process that takes advantage of our
Installation & Repair facility where we have access to bench machines
with spare IDE plugs. Plug a new drive into the spare IDE plug, do a
format /s, then do the SYS command to complete making a W95 bootable
disk, then using the client already on the bench machine's system
drive do a complete filespace restore, unplug the drive, plug it into
     the broken machine, reboot, done.

We started out with the WIn32 bit client at 2.1.0.5, upgraded to
2.1.0.6.
Never had a problem with restoring long file names on Win95 or WinNT 4.0
(I don't have an NT 3.5.1 to test).

The only problem I know of, which is a nit, is that you can't INSTALL
the client in a directory with a long file name that has a blank in it,
such as the "program files" subdirectory. And I think there is actually
a work-around for that if you have time to dink with it. But that
doesn't affect the ability to RESTORE long file names.
