Over the past couple days we've had to restore only the trustee
rights--not the NDS rights and not the files, which were intact,
on a production server. By trial and error we found the following
command will do that:

  load dsmc res -subdir=yes -rep=no servername\volname:/*

That statement worked, presumably because it primarily
restores directories (probably a few files too) and in the process
restores the file system rights--because that's where the file
system rights are stored??

It took a long time, which prompts the following question and
request:
Question: If you do an unqualified restore of everything on a
NetWare client, would it process faster than if you say -rep=no.
If any of you know the answer, can you also tell me the technical
reason why? e.g., does ADSM have to access the DB with
every file for the -rep=no option, whereas it wouldn't for a full
restore?
Change Request: Since restoring the directories appears to
restore the file system rights, I would like ADSM enhanced to
make the -dirsonly option available on the restore command.

Now, because Arcserve allows restore of only the file system
trustee rights, I'm once again having to justify use of ADSM to
those who aren't impressed with time this took; I know I can do
some tuning, but I'd like to have an answer to my question too,
so I can point out why this is an unusual situation.
