We are running ADSM MVS 2.1.10. The database is apx 13GB. Each of the
12 data base volume is allocated at 1172MB (1/2 of a 3390-3).
1. Any thoughts on the pros and cons to allocating more, smaller DB
volumes compared to a few large DB volumes? (Database performance is the
goal here). There is high I/O to the DASD where the DB volumes reside.
One of the ideas was to allow the smaller DB volumes to be managed by
SMS, thereby spreading the volumes across a general pool(and spreading
the I/O?).
2. After splitting the workload to a second ADSM server I am left with
a DB that is under 50% utilized, shown below:
adsm> q db

How do I reclaim some of the unused space if "Maximum Reduction" is 0?
