First, assuming that the "Retain only copy" time limit had not passed, then
both backups of the code would have been available to select from.

But..... Restore operations do not just occur - you must select the objects
that you want to restore. You do not state which option was used, but if
your admin or his helper selcted the wrong copy of the code, then this would
explain the problem. For example, if the command that was used was the
"restore by subdirectory branch" command, and the older branch was specified,
then you would get what you reported. Another way might be to pick the newer
version of the code, and then change the destination of the restore to the
older directory name. Either of these options might also have occured using
the "restore by directory tree" option.

Both restore options would require that "inactive" copies be selected for the
restore, or the -latest parm be used if in command line mode. In all of
these examples, though, the person entering the commands would have to select
the older directory name......perhaps he just had a temporary memory lapse.

Hope this explains it - I think this was a cockpit error, and not ADSM.

I have a admin. type that moved an entire
directory structure from one location on a
hard disk to another on an NT 3.51 box. This
directory structure was backed up by ADSM
when it was in its original location.

This directory structure was also backed up
by ADSM after it was moved.

Sometime after the move his helper deleted
the entire directory structure. ADSM was
used to restore the directory. However, the
restore operation placed the directory in its
original location not it last location. He also
claims that some files which were created
after the move were not backed up. Is this
normal behavior?
