If you are running an MVS server under V2, check chpater 4 in the Admin
GUIDE. I don't know if it is the same chapter in the same manual on other
platforms.

I had a similar problem long ago where I had several small data base
volumes and I want fewer larger ones. I had to reallocate and delete
the old volume (which effectively will move it to the new one).

Folks,
My teammate who handles the MVS ADSM server is investigating how to
reduce the database size. We recently split into 3 STCs and the original
database is now over-sized.
He has been told that you cannot delete a volume from the database without
having enough space available to replace the entire volume as a whole.
Obviously, this does nothing as far as reclaiming any space.
Have any of you had any experience in reclaiming database space?
