We use ADSM only on an SP, but we're running on AIX 4.1.4. The only problem
we had, which was never really figured out, started out with the clients
occasionally locking up during the middle of a scheduled incremental backup.
There were no error messages, and we couldn't kill the schedule process.
The only way to get out of it was to re-boot the node. Then we had
trouble with the server locking up. We could kill it, but we were left with
defunct processes that had locks on some of the ADSM files so we had to
reboot the server node. Support thought it was probably switch-related and
recommended checking the switch and tcpip parameters and upgrading the
server. We also turned on traces but they didn't help much with diagnosing
the problem. We checked the switch and tcpip parameters and made some
changes as suggested by tcpip support, and then upgraded the server to
2.1.5.10 from 2.1.5.9. Everything's been fine since then. We haven't
started using HSM yet.

Can't help on the SP... and currently can't be much help on the HSM
but I can mention that I've go a G30 smp box with AIX 4.2, adsm
2.1.5.11, and the HSM poop for testing. Keep having delays... latest
is a new R40 in Houston that they want 2.1.5.12 to go on soooo more
delays to check out 2.1.5.12... BUT that should help in the long run.
I'll try to post my experiences later...
     later
          later

Ditto, we have ordered one, too.
Are there any other considerations for running on an SP node?
How about tuning parameters?
