Thomas,
This is out of the ADSM Netware client manual -

Incremental by date. The client only asks the ADSM server for the date and
time of the last incremental backup. This is the only information used to
determine which files get backed up, so any changes that do not change the
date and time are not recognized. If a file's last changed date and time
is after that of the last backup, the file is backed up. Otherwise, the
file is not backed up, even if it is new to the Netware server. Also, in a
partial incremental, files are noty expired or re-bound on the server, and
the copy group's frequency attribute of the management classes is ignored.

From my experience, the -incrbydate' parameter appears to work similar to
how a differential backup works in the context of
full/differential/incremental backups. That is, all files that have
changed or are new since the last 'full incremental' backup was taken are
backed up provided the last changed date/time field has been updated on the
client.
