I'm currently in the process of writing up a plan to upgrade all our
companies Netware servers to NDS and am trying to figure out some
disaster recovery issues.

I spoke to Novell regarding the below;

_______________________________________________________________________
2.3.7   Current Backup Limitations
                   In conclusion, the following is a list of the
current NDS backup limitations inherent
                   in the SMS architecture:

                   *  partition/replica boundaries are not backed-up
                   *  schema is not backed-up
                   * server centric IDs are not backed-up
                   * partial restores are not practical because of
object references
                       Novell is aware of these limitations and is
working to provide solutions in the
                       future.

These limitations are listed from.

ADSTAR  Distributed  Storage  Manager
  NetWare Directory Services (NDS) Backup and Recovery Guide
                                                    Version  1.0

Novell said of these problems are addressed in patch SMSUP5. They said
the backing up/restoring of extended Schema, and partial restore
problems are addressed. They also said some vendors are shipping
products that support these functions (Arcserve 6.0).

The last I know ADSM does not support SMSUP5. Is their plans to support
SMSUP5 and does it include resolving any of the limitations listed
above?

Any information on this would be appreciated.
