ADSM on AIX
1996-10-31 14:53:52
Hi,
I'm experiencing a problem on a HSM managed disk that is running
on AIX 3.2.5. The ADSM (client) package is at version 2.1.0.4.
What appears to have happened is that a user created a link in
his directory to another file in some other subdirectory in the
same filesystem tree.
Since then, whenever he tries to acess the directory that has
the linke files (ie the source and/or the target) the process
just hangs.
When I look at the machine the following processes are active:
root 16061 1 0 Oct 29 - 0:00 /usr/lpp/adsm/bin/dsmc
sched -quiet
root 18244 1 0 Oct 29 - 1:54
/usr/lpp/adsm/bin/dsmmonitord
root 18758 1 0 Oct 29 - 0:00
/usr/lpp/adsm/bin/dsmrecalld
root 21130 18758 0 15:48:38 - 0:00
/usr/lpp/adsm/bin/dsmrecalld
root 23525 18244 0 16:53:16 - 0:00
/usr/lpp/adsm/bin/dsmmonitord
root 25705 24902 1 14:45:03 pts/25 0:00 grep dsm
root 26078 16061 0 00:04:42 - 4:17 /usr/lpp/adsm/bin/dsmc
sched -quiet
root 29907 1 0 Oct 30 - 0:36 ./dsmsm
root 30439 24550 0 16:53:16 - 0:38
/usr/lpp/adsm/bin/dsmreconcile /home/thy/exp
One thing that I have noticed is that processed 23525 and 30439 have
been active since almost 5:00 PM two days ago (when the system was
last rebooted in order to fix the same problems of hung processes
over NFS).
My question is, if I reboot the system once more (since that HSM
file system is useless) what are my options to try and fix the
operating system, and how can I do that before the dsmreconcile
tries to take it over.
Any hints, suggestions, etc?
Thanks
