We have tested the software with our Library's VAX and they are very
excited about using the facility. We are in the process of purchasing
some new tape technology so we have been putting them off until it
arrives.

They are currently using a TF86 drive which I believe is same as DLT2000. We
have had all kinds of problems with this technology.
The first drive we had was the TF85 which is 2GB per tape and we
had the whole system , stacker, heads etc replaced three times in
less than a year and we were still having problems. The last time they
just gave them a TF86 drive instead hoping the problems will go away.
They are replacing the heads every four months.

After finding out more about DLT I undersstand the head is always
in contact with the head.
